The complexity of industrial processes and the availability of enabling technologies require innovative design methods and tools for energy efficiency and sustainability. Indeed, the synergistic use of technologies like digital modelling, reverse engineering, virtual and augmented reality, and AI opens new frontiers, enhancing product complexity and optimizing the design process. This interdisciplinary approach addresses modern industry challenges, integrating several perspectives for comprehensive, sustainable and highly innovative solutions.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide insights into the various aspects of scientific and technological progress related to design methods and tools in industrial engineering, as well as their use in other sectors such as medicine, cultural heritage, and nautical engineering.
