The scholarship covers various levels of education, including undergraduate studies, research (master’s and doctoral), Japanese language and cultural studies, teacher training, technical college, and professional training. It also includes the Young Leaders’ Program (YLP) for mid-career professionals in fields like public administration, business, law, and local governance. Prospective applicants must be Thai nationals and meet specific age, academic, and experience requirements depending on the scholarship category.Application cycles typically open once a year, with document submission in the spring (often April–May), followed by written exams and interviews conducted by the Japanese Embassy or consulate in Thailand. Successful candidates are nominated by the Embassy to the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
